Tommy HIlfiger.

Ireland’s largest Tommy Hilfiger store, and the first to open on a high street, is set to open its doors on Shop Street tomorrow at 12 noon.

The 4,000sq ft family size store is the fourth in Ireland, and is set to become the country’s flagship store. Sixteen jobs are expected to be created by the venture.

Running over two levels of completely revamped retail space, the new store represents a massive investment in the local retail trade and boasts the crème de la crème of designer fashion.

The Galway Tommy Hilfiger store is an investment by well-known and established businessmen Joe and Aidan Hanley and will be managed by Sinead Vaughan.

It follows on the success of the group’s other businesses Hanley & Co on Williamsgate Street and Hanley Menswear in the Galway Shopping Centre. The business will be run independently of the company’s other stores.

Director Aidan Hanley says Galway shoppers are ready for the Tommy Hilfiger collection which has clawed its way to the top of the fashion world.

“There is a demand in Galway for a higher standard of retail and one thing that has been very successful for us is the uni-brand store where you have one brand, but variety in the collection,” he said.

The Galway store will cover the global lifestyle brand showcasing seven different Tommy Hilfiger divisions including men’s and women’s sportswear, denim wear, golf wear, children’s wear, and a variety of accessories including handbags and shoes.

A visit by the world famous fashion designer himself is anticipated in the new year, according to Aidan Hanley.
